Thursday’s Tip: Sponging

By | 12 May 2016

A great way to add some definition to your creation is to sponge the edges.  If you look at the photo below, you will see that I have sponged the edges of the Whisper White cardstock with Perfect Plum ink.  Today I will share a tip on how to best use your sponges.

You can buy sponges in a pack of three.   Cut them in half and then into thirds or quarters.  I usually cut eight wedges from one sponge.

Sponges 141337GI use one ink colour per wedge, so I like to attach a piece of cardstock in the same colour as the ink that I am using.  Then I know what colour it is next time I go to use it.  In the past I have punched the piece of cardstock it out with the Artisan Label Punch, but this is no longer current.  You could use an oval punch or the Bracket Label Punch.  I then fold the punched out piece of cardstock in half and I write the ink colour name on the top.  Lastly I staple it to the top narrow piece of the sponge wedge.  Then store them in a container and you have your sponges ready to use next time.

Here are what my sponges look like.
