Thursday’s Tip: Using Photopolymer Stamps

By | 3 March 2016

Photopolymer stamps are great for stamping with as it is easy to stamp your image or sentiment exactly where you want it as you can see through the block.  It is also great for two-set stamping.

Here are a few tips when you use them:

  • When you purchase a new set of Photopolymer stamps, before you stamp with them, wash them in warm soapy water.  This will get off any residue and give a better stamped image.
  • Use a clear block that is the right size for your stamp.  It you use a block that is too big, you will probably get ink around the edge which may go on to your card or project.
  • Sometimes you may find you get a better result if you stamp with a foam mat, like a paper piercing mat or a mouse pad, underneath your paper.
  • Photopolymer stamps are flexible so you can change the shape of them. For example, rather than it being straight, you can arch them upwards or downwards.
  • The darker ink colours will stain the stamps, but as long as you clean them after use, even though you will see the staining, they will stamp fine.  Sometimes the staining makes them easier to find when you lose them on the table or drop them on the floor!
  • Lastly, if you find your stamps aren’t clinging to the clear block very well anymore, give them another clean in warm soapy water and they will be fine again.

If you know of any other great tips for using Photopolymer stamps, please share these with me.  I would love to hear from you.
