Ideas on how to create your own original cards

Sometimes you want to make a card, but you don’t know where to start.  That is how today’s card started.  I knew that I wanted to make a card using the Painted Petals stamp set, but then I wasn’t sure what to do next.  My next step was deciding on what style of card to make.  I decided that I wanted to make a card that was a bit different from a standard fold card so I chose to use the Circle Thinlits Die.  My next dilemma was what colours to use.  I looked through some Designer Series Paper that I had and chose the Best Ever Day Designer Series Paper, which is one of the free items through Sale-A-Bration.  This then gave me some colours to use.  You could also use the “Color Coach” for colour combination ideas too.

So in summary, this is how I came up with my card idea:

1) I decided on a stamp set to use

2) I chose the style of card I wanted to make – eg standard card or unique folding card

3) I chose some Designer Series Paper which gave me the colours to work with.
